Bookmine Hunter (“Hunter”) is a Chrome browser extension operated by Bookmine.co (“Bookmine,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your information. This Privacy Policy explains what information Bookmine Hunter accesses, collects, stores, uses, and shares when you use our browser extension and related services.
Bookmine Hunter helps online booksellers evaluate potential resale opportunities while browsing book listings on Vinted.
The extension analyzes relevant listing information and provides book identification, historical market data, estimated resale values, shipping costs, and potential profit calculations.
Hunter requires an eligible Bookmine Hunter membership to access its sourcing features.
Account and Authentication Information
When signing in to Hunter, users provide their Bookmine username and password. This information is securely transmitted over HTTPS to Bookmine’s authentication services to verify account access.
Hunter may also process email verification codes, account recovery requests, membership identifiers, subscription eligibility, and authentication tokens.
Passwords and one-time verification codes are not stored in Hunter’s local browser storage. Authentication tokens are stored locally to maintain secure sessions.
Book Listing and Marketplace Information
To perform its core function, Hunter reads relevant information from supported Vinted listings, which may include:
Book titles, ISBNs, and other product identifiers
Listing descriptions and photographs
Listing prices and displayed shipping costs
Other listing details necessary for book identification and resale analysis
Book identifiers and search terms may be transmitted to Bookmine’s backend services and market-data providers, including Keepa, to retrieve pricing, historical demand, and product information.
Previously Viewed Listings
Hunter includes a VISITED feature that remembers which Vinted listings you have viewed.
This feature stores listing identifiers and timestamps locally in your browser. These records are retained for up to 30 days before expiring.
Hunter does not request Chrome’s general browsing-history permission and is not designed to monitor browsing activity on unrelated websites.
Usage and Security Information
Bookmine processes account identifiers and sourcing request counts to authenticate members, enforce usage limits, maintain service reliability, and prevent unauthorized access.
Our authentication and infrastructure services may also process technical information, including IP addresses, request timestamps, and security-related logs.
Hunter does not request precise GPS location.
User Settings
Hunter stores certain preferences locally, such as settings used to calculate estimated sourcing costs and potential profits.
We use information processed through Hunter to:
Authenticate users and verify membership eligibility
Identify books and retrieve relevant resale-market information
Calculate estimated purchase costs and potential profits
Display previously viewed Vinted listings
Maintain user settings and sessions
Enforce sourcing limits and prevent abuse
Diagnose technical problems, improve performance, and maintain service security
Respond to support and account-related requests
We do not use information obtained through the extension for unrelated advertising or the sale of personal information.
Bookmine Hunter uses trusted third-party services as necessary to provide its features.
These services may include:
Google Cloud: Provides infrastructure for Hunter’s authentication, API services, data processing, and usage records.
Keepa: Supplies Amazon marketplace product information, pricing history, and sales-rank data used in Hunter’s book analysis.
Google Lens: When a user chooses Hunter’s image-search feature, the selected Vinted listing photograph is processed and submitted to Google Lens to assist with identifying a product. This upload is initiated by the user; it is not an automatic upload of every listing image.
Bookmine.co: Processes account sign-ins, membership verification, subscription access, and account recovery.
Stripe: Processes subscription payments made through Bookmine’s website. Hunter’s Chrome extension does not directly collect payment-card numbers.
These services may process information according to their applicable privacy policies.
We do not sell Hunter user data to advertising networks, data brokers, or information resellers.
Hunter uses Chrome’s extension storage to save relevant settings, session information, and VISITED listing records.
VISITED listing records expire after approximately 30 days.
Authentication sessions remain stored as needed to support signed-in access and are cleared from the extension when a user signs out.
Bookmine’s servers retain account, membership, security, and usage information as reasonably necessary to operate the service, investigate abuse, maintain records, and meet applicable legal obligations. Retention periods may vary by the type of information.
Uninstalling Hunter removes its locally stored extension data but does not automatically delete records maintained through your Bookmine account or backend services.
We use security measures designed to protect Hunter user information, including encrypted HTTPS communication, authenticated API access, restricted browser permissions, session controls, and safeguards against unauthorized requests.
Although we take reasonable measures to protect information, no internet-based service or storage method can guarantee absolute security.
Bookmine Hunter’s use and transfer of information obtained through the extension complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Specifically:
We use user information only to provide or improve Hunter’s disclosed functionality and related security and operational needs.
We transfer user information only when necessary to deliver or improve Hunter’s functionality, meet applicable legal requirements, prevent fraud or abuse, or as otherwise permitted under the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy.
We do not sell user information or use it for personalized, interest-based, or retargeted advertising.
We do not use or transfer user information to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
Human access to personal user information is restricted to permitted circumstances, including user-authorized support, necessary security investigations, legal compliance, or appropriately anonymized internal operations.
You can stop Hunter from accessing Vinted listing information by disabling or uninstalling the extension.
You can sign out of Hunter to clear locally stored authentication credentials.
You can also request assistance with your Bookmine account information, privacy questions, or deletion requests by contacting us. Certain records may need to be retained for legal, security, or legitimate operational purposes.
Bookmine Hunter operates alongside third-party websites and services, including Vinted, Amazon, Keepa, and Google Lens.
Bookmine is independent of these companies. Their websites, services, and privacy practices are governed by their respective policies.
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in Hunter’s features, technology, legal requirements, or data practices.
When changes are made, we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes to data practices will be disclosed as required by applicable law and Chrome Web Store policies.
