How it Works

Our BookMine score predicts a book’s profitability, ranging from 4 to 10. A higher score means we believe the book is more likely to make money. We calculate this score using over 100 data points to find patterns typical of profitable books.

The Supply Meter helps users quickly see if a book is in low, high, or normal supply compared to the past 180 days. It helps users avoid purchasing books that decrease in value and identifies chances to sell high-demand books for more profit when they are scarce or very scarce.

BookMine doesn’t stop at assessing supply. We also predict how likely a book is to sell out soon. This prediction considers both current supply and recent sales frequency. Just because a book is in short supply doesn’t mean it’s highly likely to sell out. So, books we believe are in short supply and likely to sell out soon get a higher BookMine score!

When a book reaches its lowest price ever on Amazon, it’s likely undervalued. So, we boost the BookMine score when a book’s current price is within 10% of its lowest recorded price.

When a book with high demand goes out of stock on Amazon, used prices often rise closer to the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP), sometimes even reaching 1.5x, 2x, or 3x the MSRP. This presents a great opportunity to profit from a book whose selling price is no longer limited. BookMine recognizes when Amazon runs out of stock on a book, and this boosts the BookMine score positively!
